This one references the movie, The Legend of Bagger Vance. The movie is loosely based on the Hindu sacred text the Bhagavad Gita. The lead of the story, in this case, Rannulph Junuh, wont compete. A god appears to him as Bagger Vance to help him become the hero he's meant to be. Junuh has been through a really hard time, and is needed God's help to overcome it and allow himself to be happy. Because this is an Arizona desert landscape, Lisa Martineau shortened the title of this piece from Junuh, to June - a summer month. As Arizona seems to always thinks it's summer, this seems to to fit well.
